About this project
In August 2015, North Saanich District Council decided to proceed with the phased development of an amazing new children's playground at Jubilee Park. The park was envisioned to be developed in four major phases. Phase 4 is shown in the plan view below.
We have already received some generous corporate donations from Viking Air ($25,000); VIH Aviation ($6,000); VAA ($5,000); Coast Capital ($2,500) and Sea Span Ferries ($500). We have also received a Canada 150 Grant from the Federal Government of $60,100 which will be matched by the District.
WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT VICTORIA AIRPORT AUTHORITY HAS DONATED AGAIN TO THE PROJECT AT THE "CAPTAIN" LEVEL ($5,000). THANK YOU VAA, ITS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
However we are still about $44,000 short of what we need to complete the first two phases of the park. Therefore, the District is reaching out to ask you, the residents and businesses of North Saanich and surroundings, to lend a hand.
The money raised will allow us to complete construction of the first two phases of this amazing park that includes the children's playground and the impressive giant aircraft themed structure which you can see in the above video and the photos below.
Phase 1 & 2 (more detail)
- Main entry to park
- Play area featuring the airport theme and structural and topographic play elements
- Aeronautically themed play area featuring a climbable airplane structure (as seen in video with location shown in the plan above)
- Shelter featuring hangar-inspired form, picnic tables and a small performing space
- Site parking
