Join us! Support Volunteering - the heartbeat of our community!

Every day, volunteers in Campbell River build our community by expressing their passions and making a difference in the lives of others.
In fact, almost half of the people who live here volunteer and many folks are involved in more than one organization or cause!
Watch our video here:

But there are still many volunteer opportunities to fill and needs to meet. Some organizations have aging members and worry about being able to continue their work, while other groups have unique needs that can make it more difficult to find a match for time, talent or interest.

Campbell River needs your support now. You can ensure that our community has the volunteer resources we need by finding a volunteer opportunity just right for you, or contributing to our Crowdfunding campaign (JUST CLICK ON THE 'BACK THIS PROJECT NOW' BUTTON).

Volunteer Campbell River is a non-profit organization that connects people with volunteer opportunities. Help us build a vibrant community through volunteerism today!

Our goal is two-fold:

First, we want an avalanche of searches for volunteer opportunities on our online volunteer matching platform. More searches mean more matches, which means more volunteers in action.

Second, we want to raise $2000 to support Volunteer Campbell River with resources to help your neighbours and organizations find each other and keep our community programs vibrant and successful.

To get you thinking about your gift of time or money, here are a few examples of volunteers who make a difference in Campbell River:

Kidstart volunteers spend a few hours each week building a relationship with a young person AND HAVING FUN! The results of this mentoring relationship can make the difference in a child’s school success and help build the kind of positive self-esteem that will lead to a lifetime of resilience. And it’s a win-win for everyone as the mentors benefit from sharing their caring too.

When a house fire devastates a family and leaves them in the cold without belongings or resources, Campbell River Emergency Support Services Team (CRESST) volunteers are quickly on the scene to help with lodging, clothing and food.  Most of all, it’s the caring concern for those affected, in a time of great need, that makes a difference for them moving forward.

If you have a song in your heart and a dance step in your foot, or love the thrill of backstage scene changes, the Shoreline Musical Theatre is the place to be!  By giving performers an opportunity to share their passion for musical theatre, while providing entertainment and fun through magical performances, SMT helps build a community for everyone.

The Yucalta Lodge Auxiliary has been bringing comfort and enjoyment to the lives of Lodge residents and their families for more than 40 years!  By providing enjoyable seasonal celebrations, musical entertainment, resources for staff to support residents living with dementia, and so much more, the Auxiliary members enrich the quality of life for our most senior, valued and often lonely, community members.

If protecting our environment is on the top of your list, Greenways Land Trust is the place for you! With a mission to restore, maintain and preserve natural areas and critical habitats, Greenways is on the frontlines of community building.  Whether you can adopt-a-trail, help school children in their garden or work to prevent invasive species from taking hold, there is a role for you at Greenways.

At Citizens on Patrol members work under the Community Policing Umbrella to help keep Campbell River safe.  Night Patrols, Lock-it or Lose-it Campaigns, Child Find registration and Speed Watch/Cell Phone Watch are activities that keep these volunteers busy.

What is YOUR passion?

Where can YOU give your gift of time, energy, and expertise?
What experiences do you need in your life?

Volunteering can answer all of these questions and more!  Right now, there are opportunities in organizations focused on health, including mental health, sports, serving youth and seniors. You can work with others to build homes for families, help care for injured wild-life and protect feral cats, or sit on a community non-profit board of directors, support the arts and museums, provide service to folks in need, and more.
