One Day’s Pay is gathering funds to send supplies to Iqaluit after fuel was found in the city drinking water.

One Day’s Pay is gathering funds to send supplies to Iqaluit after fuel was found in the city drinking water.

A state of emergency has been declared in Iqaluit after city staff found evidence of fuel contamination in the city's treated water supply. The water is unsafe to drink, even if filtered or boiled, according to the municipality.

We will be sending supplies such as foodsafe jugs and containers for carrying water, along with other resources if necessary, to Iqaluit to help them while the situation is being managed. This includes the delivery and distribution of these supplies and resources needed by residents of Iqaluit.

Thanks for your support!

Greetings Campaign backers,

Thank you so much for supporting the campaign.
In only 6 days you gave enough money to purchase 128 hand pumps and ship them to Iqaluit. Time was of the essence as needs are fluid and high during this water emergency. Your quick response allowed us to go into action swiftly and respond to what was requested by people in Iqaluit. The shipment was received this afternoon by Janet, our contact in Iqaluit, whom will be distributing to elders, folks with mobility issues, and others in the community.
We couldn't have done it without you!
One Day's Pay will continue to be a bridge for Canadians to support Indigenous groups and communities. Thank you for being an integral part of something good.
Warm regards,
The One Day's Pay Team

Access to clean drinking water is a basic human right. I hope this situation gets fixed quickly.
