The Yellowknife Community Garden collective was started because of the many people who live in Yellowknife who do not have a place to grow food on their property either because:
A) the ground has no soil (Canadian Shield)
B) they live in an apartment
C) the plot of land they have is too small.
We could do the same thing here, using the amply sized public parks that exist to create local food.
This could save the town some money by reducing the amount of land that town staff have to mow and in other possible ways.
