This project was impressive because it engaged the entire student, staff and parent population at the Cougar Canyon Elementary School in Delta, BC to install a rain garden to capture stormwater runoff from the school parking lot to protect a nearby salmon-bearing stream. The rain garden was planted with mostly native plants that are drought tolerant so they do not need extra watering. This project also had a strong education component as the students learned about the importance of, and procedures for, making a rain garden.
