KIWIHARVEST (originally FoodShare Dunedin) is a great ‘food rescue’ initiative set up in Dunedin, NZ, whereby they collect food that is soon to expire or be thrown out from supermarkets/restaurants/catering companies and other similar providers. They then donate it to local charities and social service providers, with the aim of reducing poverty and hunger in the community, and also to reduce food wastage. They have grown immensely in the last couple of years, and in late 2016 they won an ethics and sustainability award.

Here’s their website to read more: http://kiwiharvest.org.nz/
