Create a “local-only” farmers’ store

This idea is to create a farmers’ store, a new hybrid between a grocery store and a farmers’ market.  Unlike a farmers’ market, the store is open 5 to 7 days per week, all year round.   However, like a farmers’ market, everything sold is produced by local farmers and food artisans.  Farmers’ set the prices for their products and stock their own items on the shelves and receive 70% of the value of the items sold to cover operating costs for the store.  This idea has been successfully crowdfunded in the US but has yet to be implemented in Canada.  It could be implemented as a rewards campaign where funders get a credit on future store purchases in return for and in proportion to their funding contribution.
