Public Libraries are one of the oldest and most successful reuse and sharing institutions. However, until recently, they have focused almost exclusively on sharing books. With growing awareness of the sharing economy, more and more people are asking, why should we limited libraries to just lending books. Some of the more progressive libraries have taken up the challenge by expanding their range of items to include tools (the image above is the tool lending library at the Berkeley Public Library), toys, kitchen equipment, and much more.
