More government funding to move industrial symbiosis from the pilot stage to operational.

Industrial symbiosis (IS) has been successful in 30 countries around the globe in re-purposing a variety of resources (“wastes”) from a vast array of industries and SMEs, generating such benefits as reduced emissions, job retention and creation, reduced landfill volumes, and innovation.  The Canadian NISP pilot received funding from all 3 levels of government to kick off in Metro Vancouver and Greater Edmonton, and has in only 8 months generated over 1500 potential resource matches of various kinds.  Continued funding will ensure that progress will continue on converting these potential synergies into new business partnerships that deliver multiple triple bottom line benefits.
